ABOUT FOODLABS

FoodLabs (FL) is a venture capital investor and venture studio based in Berlin focusing on Food-, Agtech, and Sustainability. We’ve previously backed leading food tech startups such as Gorillas, Microharvest, Infarm, Meatable, Mushlabs, or Formo.

In our Founder Studio, we are consistently identifying new opportunities to change the food landscape in Europe together with the most daring entrepreneurs and scientists. We are currently looking for a Co-Founder (m/f/x) to build a biotech startup in the space of synthetic fats and oil with us.

YOUR ROLE

You will be a founding team member, joining a strong Scientific Co-Founder, having a significant impact on the success, and creating the company from the ground up through your work, scientific experience, and industry expertise. Amongst many other exciting challenges, as Co-Founder of a new venture of FoodLabs, your responsibilities will include:

  • You validate the feasibility of the defined investment hypothesis and take responsibility for its further development

  • You continue to shape the business case with the support of the FoodLabs team and are responsible for its operational and strategic advancement

  • You build an exceptional founding team and set up a high-performing organization of scientists and engineers to explore, develop and commercialize the production of synthetic fats and oils

  • Together with your co-founding team and the support of FoodLabs, you will raise funds for the further growth of the business

Job requirements

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

  • An entrepreneurial mindset and exceptional problem-solving skills

  • Strong hands-on attitude and willingness to take on various tasks inside and outside your field of expertise

  • Substantial experience in a high-performance environment (e.g., Startup, Management Consulting, Investment Banking)

  • You have first experience in managing and scaling a high-performing team and are a strong leader with outstanding people management skills

  • A passion for food, health, nutrition, and sustainability

  • Academic background in the fields of Biotechnology, Bioengineering, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Food Science, Computational and Systems Biology, or related disciplines are of advantage

  • You are fluent in English (C1) in oral and written communication, fluency in German is of advantage
